Dreamkeepers... Guardian spirits that would come in all different shapes and forms. They are often heard as nothing more than folklore by ordinary humans. These spirits travel in the realm of the unconscious, peering into the dreams and wishes of humans they encounter. They create and stay in their own dreamscape, where they can observe the flow of dream essence to record or cleanse, soothing the ripple distortions of dreams. In one dreamscape faraway, there resides a Dreamkeeper surrounded by an endless sea and dream creatures on her lonely island…
Lore
A Dreamkeeper's jobs is to maintain dreams in the form of essence or realms. Their main duties include weaving pure dream essence into Dream Fragments for recording, capturing corrupted dream essence into Nightmare Fragments for cleansing, or hunting down rogue nightmares from tainted nightmare essence to soothe the ripple distortions in the dreams realms they haunt.Usually, a Dreamkeeper would record dream essence into Dream Fragments or Nightmare Fragments depending on the state of the essence, then feed the Nightmare Fragment to their Dreameater for cleansing to ensure they are contained and safe. This allows the Fragments to remain safely in their dreamscape for viewing later. If the dream essence becomes too tainted for cleansing, it forms into nightmare essence. For rogue nightmares that take shape from tainted nightmare essence and cannot be captured in a Fragment, the Dreamkeeper will have to first find the nightmare themselves in the dream realm they lurk in. Once found and trapped to not escape, the Dreamkeeper will have to absorb them with the help of their Dreameater to soothe the dream realm completely. This often leaves the Dreamkeeper themselves to be in a partially corrupted nightmare state due to how tainted rogue nightmares are. They will eventually break the nightmare essence down before returning to normal.
Sea of Dreams
The Sea of Dreams is the dreamscape of this Dreamkeeper. The realm is an endless sea with night and day, filled with Fragments and a single island. The single island is shaped like a crescent moon, filled with lush greens and a single large tree at the center with luminescent blossoms. The branches split to create a nest at the crown of the trunk, leaving a small resting area for the Dreamkeeper. At the inner curved crescent of the island is a lagoon that leads out to the endless sea with a single wooden dock and a netted swing hanging above the waters from an outstretched branch from the large tree. The Dreamkeeper can view any dreams with Fragments swimming in the lagoon. The water in the lagoon also can lead to various dream realms when diving in to experience the dream themselves or in search of a large nightmare that might be haunting a dream realm particularly.
Companions
Fragment: Fragments are the containers and messengers of dream essence from humans that come in the form of a glowing fish when entering this dreamscape, floating in the sky or swimming in the sea. The Fragments can form an image or a scene in the water from the dream they contain. They can come into the dreamscape in two forms depending on the state of the dream essence inside. Orangish-pink Fragments are Dream Fragments made from pure dream essence, in which they are collected by the Dreamkeeper for record-keeping. Purplish-pink Fragments are Nightmare Fragments made from corrupted dream essence, where they are captured to be cleansed by Dreameaters to remain in a stable state to not further become tainted. Fragments cannot contain nightmare essence, which transforms into rogue nightmares that cause ripple distortions in dream realms due to how tainted the essence is within.
Dreamdrops: Some of the fragments will contain the awakened consciousness of a human instead of their dream essence, dropping off a temporarily transformed panda jellyfish that has a small connector on their ear to stay in touch with their body. They are known as Dreamdrops during their visit in this dreamscape. During their stay, they are able to enter different dreams that are recorded in the Fragments to view. Their actions within those dream realms do not affect the Dreamkeeper’s dreamscape. Once ready to leave, they will not recall their time in the dreamscape and only their time in the dreams. The number of stars or haloes around their ear is how “awake” they are while visiting and viewing dreams, representing the four stages of lucid dreaming.A Dreamdrop with just a single star at the tip of their ear represents being aware one is dreaming.

Dreameater: Dreameaters are the familiars of Dreamkeepers. They are the ones who assist the Dreamkeeper the most. Their main duty is to eat Nightmare Fragments in order to cleanse the corrupted dream essence inside them. They are also there to be guardians of the dreamscape, having the abilities to create sockets of dream realms to contain and fight off rogue nightmares. There are four Dreameaters that this Dreamkeeper owns differentiated by a halo with different symbols over one of their ears and horns.
